Who else feels like Christmas came out of no where this year? We are literally only two weeks away and I am no where near ready. Usually by this time of year, I can sit back and watch everyone else run around like a chicken with their head cut off. But unfortunately, the tables have turned, and I am the one running around like a crazy person.
Seriously. The struggle is real my friends. I still have gifts to buy, cards to send out, not to mention the billion trips to the post office I need to make. We have a lot of family in Michigan so I try to send their gifts as soon as possible. But for some reason this year, I am stumped on gift ideas.
It wasn’t until Sunday afternoon, when B had a mini meltdown, that inspired a few gift ideas. For those of you who don’t know, my family and I will be moving to Guam in a few months. So, when he was crying about missing Grandma, I knew exactly what I waned to do. Homemade pen pal kits!
It sounds silly, because we’re so technically advanced these days, but as a kid there is nothing more exiting than receiving a piece of mail addressed to you. I found this out when we discovered Little Passports. In fact, it was Little Passports World Edition that inspired this fun gift idea.
All you need is:
This gift is super simple, yet so stinking cute. It was so affordable too! For both pen pal kits, it cost me less than $25. #winning. The best thing about this gift idea is that you can customize it however you like. Both of my nieces are pretty simple and love anything colorful, so they made my job pretty easy.
Aside from how easy it was, and how adorable they turned out, the most important thing is that B can keep in touch with his cousins. They can send letters, postcards and even small souvenirs. Moving over 8,000 miles away is going to be hard, probably harder than I can even imagine. So anything to make this transition easier for my kids, I am totally in!
After making these, I’m highly considering making a few more for my girlfriends! We can send wine via mail, right?!?
