Ben and I have spent more time in hotels this past month than we have in our own home. Between traveling to see family and taking a Jamaican vacation, it’s been a challenge to stay fit. But with this 20 minute body weight routine you can still focus on your fitness goals no matter where you are. No gym? No problem, mon.
Most hotels provide their guest with access to a fitness facility. But silly me packed way too many wedges and not one pair of sneakers. Given that, I needed to improvise. With help from my husband, we were able to come up with a routine that is tough on your body without sacrificing quality beach time.
Complete circuits 1 & 2 then repeat.
After any workout I always consume my Tropical Smoothie to fuel my muscles and aid in the recovery process. Although I enjoy this smoothie year round, it’s especially delicious in the summer.
All you need is:
1 c chopped pineapple
1 medium ripe banana
4oz. orange juice (may substitute with 1c orange slices)
1 scoop vanilla protein (optional)
Combine all ingredients in blender with ice until smooth. Garnish with pineapple and enjoy!
Pineapple contains bromelain, an enzyme that reduces inflammation and relaxes muscles. Orange juice (or orange slices) are high in Vitamin C a natural immunity booster. Especially important when traveling in high populated areas where you’re more likely to come into contact with illness.
Since bananas are absorbed slowly, they provide a steady stream of energy after a long workout. I always add vanilla protein to my smoothies to repair muscles and burn fat. Sip on the go or lounge by the pool with this refreshing treat. Have left overs? Pour into freezable containers and make smoothie pops! The kids can enjoy it too!
