Now that summer is in full swing, turning my oven on is the last thing I want to do. But what do you when you’re in charge of bringing dessert and you need to leave in 4 hours? You bring no-bake sand pudding! Yup, you read that correctly, sand pudding. Don’t worry, no beach required!
The first time I had tried sand pudding was last year at a pool party. And to be completely honest with you, I was a little reluctant. I thought for sure something with “sand” would not taste good. But let me tell you, this is the best pudding I’ve ever had! And the best part- it’s so easy to make!
All you need is:
1 box of pudding ( I used French Vanilla)
2 c cold milk
1 tub of Cool Whip
1 box Vanilla Wafers
5 mini Oreos
Start by adding wafers and Oreos to a food processor. Once the cookies resemble a sand like appearance, set aside. In a separate bowl, whisk together pudding mix and 2 cups of milk. Fold in Cool Whip and refrigerate for a few hours. Prior to serving, alternate layers of pudding and sand.
If there’s anything I’ve learned from this recipe, it’s to double the batch. Trust me when I say it will go quickly! Also, don’t skip the Oreos. They’re essential in making the sand look real. Besides, Oreos are delicious! Lastly, chill the pudding for a few hours THEN layer the cookie mixtures. This will allow the pudding to thicken and your cookie crumble won’t get soggy.
