Do you ever get that midday energy slump? Usually around 3pm when you’re reaching for that third cup of coffee; wishing you could have just 5 minutes of uninterrupted sleep. I would like to consider myself to be an active person, but I too start to lose momentum. So, instead of reaching for that quick fix, that will ultimately lead to me crashing, I grab a few of my dark chocolate energy bites.
After much experimenting, I was able to perfect this tasty treat that everyone will love! The best thing about these bad boys, besides being delicious, is how easy they are to make! With only 7 ingredients, you too can enjoy them all week long.
All you need is:
1 c old fashioned oats
1 tbsp. unsweetened cocoa powder
1 scoop chocolate protein powder
4tbsp. peanut butter powder
1 tbsp. flax seed
1 tbsp. honey
1/4 c dark chocolate chips
- 1 c old fashioned oats
- 1 tbsp. unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 tbsp. flax seed
- 1 scoop chocolate protein powder
- 6 tbsp. peanut butter powder*
- 1 tbsp. honey
- 1/4 c dark chocolate chips
- Combine all ingredients + 4 tbsp. water in a medium sized bowl
- Roll into 1" balls
- Refrigerate 30 minutes
- Serve and enjoy
- * May substitute for 1/2 c peanut butter
When we’re on the go I pack a handful in my bag for when I need a light snack. The protein helps me stay fuller longer, so I don’t overindulge throughout the day. Honey, a natural energy booster helps keep me going, eliminating that urge to run to Starbucks. Not to mention the benefits of the dark chocolate!
After making a batch last week, I quickly learned that doubling the recipe is a must! Now, I keep a batch in the refrigerator for those late night chocolate cravings. What’s your favorite energy boosting snack?
