I am not going to lie, drinking enough water is a huge challenge for me. Coffee all day? No problem. There’s something about drinking 8 glasses a day that seems close to impossible. It was a few years ago when a girlfriend of mine introduced me to a detox water recipe that she swears contributed to her 20 lb. weight loss. From that point forward- I was hooked!
2 liters water (about 8 ½ cups)
1 medium cucumber, thinly sliced
1 medium lemon, thinly sliced
6-12 mint leaves
Combine all ingredients in a large pitcher; chill in the refrigerator overnight.
This is my favorite detox water recipe not only for is refreshing taste but its health benefits as well. Lemon, a natural diuretic helps flush out any toxins in your body while aiding in healthy digestion. It also provides the body with a natural energy boost. Mint, known for its calming abilities is also a huge contributor to weight loss- helping keep bloat and other tummy troubles at bay. However, if you are breastfeeding I highly recommend staying away due to its ability to reduce milk supply. Unfortunately, I found this out the hard way.
This recipe took less than 10 minutes to prep and I was able to enjoy it all day long. A few other simple fruit infused favorites include strawberry and basil
